We estimate that 100 women will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer this year in the Greater Cincinnati Area. We will provide a free comfort basket for newly diagnosed patients. Please contact us if you know of someone who is newly diagnosed and would welcome this basket.
Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance–SU2C
OCAGC is a proud national sponsor of the SU2C Ovarian Cancer Dream Team! We've committed to raise over $100,000 in support of the Dream Team focused on early detection and survivability. We've delivered our commitment one and half years early! For more information, please see: www.standup2cancer.org.
Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance
We proudly support the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund. Their mission is to fund the best and most promising ovarian cancer research. OCRFA is the largest independent organization in the United States dedicated exclusively to funding ovarian cancer research—and to finding a cure. The OCRF funds the best researchers and the most innovative projects. Since 1998, OCRF has awarded over 60 leading medical centers 178 grants for ovarian cancer research: an investment totaling nearly $45 million. OCRF researchers are taking on ovarian cancer from many angles. For more information, please see: www.ocrahope.org.
Wood Hudson Cancer Research Laboratory
Wood Hudson Cancer Research Laboratory is an independent, not-for-profit, publicly supported research institute dedicated to understanding the causes, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of cancer. The Lab was founded in 1981 by Dr. Julia H. Carter, Dr. Harry W. Carter, Dr. Larry Douglass, and Sidney A. Wood.
Based here in the Greater Cincinnati area and focusing on Ovarian Cancer among other cancers, we proudly support them with our Research focused investments. Please learn more at woodhudson.org.
Donations for research are made to top organizations that select the most promising areas to pursue in early detection, treatment and finding a cure for ovarian cancer. We seek research efforts where not more than 5% of the donation goes to administrative costs. Our research committee is comprised of some of the top local professionals focused on gynecologic cancers.
Organizations receiving funding include the Ovarian Cancer Research Center at The University of Pennsylvania, The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, Indiana University, University of Pittsburgh, Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance and Wood Hudson Cancer Research Laboratory.
Community Involvement and Awareness Campaigns
We are producing new symptom cards that will be handed out at health fairs, our events and hospitals. These symptom cards are free and we estimate that we will reach 10,000 people this year!
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit our annual IRS form 990 is available for review and can be found online through organizations like GuideStar. Our goal as volunteer led organization is to dedicate 100% of our time, talent and resources to help women with ovarian cancer, build awareness with others and fund research to end this horrible disease.
